Rogue Traders are currently cold calling/leaflet dropping in Bishops Waltham, Meon Valley and surrounding areas of Hampshire offering to tarmac driveways.

Trading Standards would advise consumers not to agree to work that is instigated as a result of a cold call or via a leaflet drop. Consumers should obtain at least 3 written quotes from reputable businesses or traders who are either members of the Hampshire County Council Trading Standards Buy With Confidence Scheme or a recognised trade association.

Members of the Buy With Confidence scheme are fully audited to ensure their trading practices are legal, honest and fair.  All members have been checked for trustworthiness and compliance with consumer protection laws. Details can be obtained by telephoning 01962 833620, emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Traders who agree work at the home of an individual or at a place other than their usual business premises are required by law to provide consumers with a Notice of Right to Cancel, which gives consumers a 7 day cooling off period.  Work should not commence until this period has ended, unless written agreement is obtained from that consumer beforehand.

If anyone has any information about traders who are cold calling or requires any advice on doorstep crime they can contact Hampshire County Council's

Quick Response Team on 01962 833666

where specially trained officers are on hand to provide advice.

If assistance is required outside of these hours please contact Hampshire Police on 0845 045 45 45 or dial 999 if you feel threatened or intimidated.

The County Archaeologist has been in contact with the Developer to arrange for Villagers to be briefed on the excavation findings.

The site visit will be between 8:00am & 3:00pm during the normal working week. If you are interested in attending the site briefing can you send an email to John Vincent:   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it    and he will send you full details as soon as soon as notification is received from the L-P Archaeology Site Manager in the New Year. Please remember the excavation area is effectively a working construction site so by its nature will be very uneven and muddy.    You will therefore need to be sure-footed and wear suitable protective footwear and clothing. This invite extends to all Clanfield Villagers so please mention it to friends and neighbours.   The invite, however, does not extend to those living outside the Village at the moment, as there are limitations on numbers for safety reasons. If you have any queries please email or call the number below.

Village Newsletter

The Parish council publishes a newsletter three times per year. it is printed and distributed to all houses in the Parish.

We really need new content for the newsletter! What we are looking for is:

  • Information about clubs and societies in the village, and any activities you have happening during the next few months;
  • Information about interesting events that have happened recently.

Articles need not be large - half a page of text including a photograph would be great. Please contact any Parish Council member if you have any material to offer!

Our email addresses are here
