Written by Administrator Saturday, 20 June 2009 11:04

The South of Butser Safer Neighbourhood Team was created in April 2008 and replaces the old style Police Beat officers. The team covers the large area of Horndean, Clanfield and Rowlands Castle as well as the large expanses of rural land to the south of Butser hill including the smaller villages of Finchdean and Charlton. The area is completely contained within East Hants District Council, our partners in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.
The team is led by Sergeant Mike Haines 1476 and consists of 3 PCs and 3 PCSO'. PCs are Karen Wenzel 502, Stuart "Jeff" Hurst 21892 and Iain Clancy 24099. The 3 PCSO's are Sally Beard 13144, Debbie Neesham 13377 and Becky Veal 13627. The team members are committed to providing the best possible service to all of the communities that we serve to keep them a safe place to live, work and bring up families.
The area of the South of Butser does enjoy relatively low crime rates making it a very safe place to live. However, this does not make us complacent and we are keen to tackle the issues that the community identify to us as causing concern. We have 3 main priorities at the moment:
-
To reduce anti-social behaviour. The team is working to reduce anti-social behaviour across the beat. However, they will be paying particular attention to the First Avenue area of Clanfield, where the problem is more prevalent.
-
To reduce anti-social driving. The team is working on increasing road safety and reducing anti-social driving particularly the use of mini-motos and other motor cycles that are being used to the annoyance of residents across the South of Butser area.
-
To reduce alcohol related criminal damage. The team is committed to tackling the problem of low level criminal damage being caused by alcohol fuelled persons during the late evenings.
Hopefully you will see the officers on the team out and about in the community. We have a focus on providing a visible service either on foot patrol or on bicycles, but because of the large area that we police you will at times see us in cars as well.
Always feel free to stop and chat and if you need to get hold of us then there are a number of ways to do so. In an emergency please phone 999. For all other matters please phone or email us
