East Hampshire Domestic Abuse Service

Providing inclusive services to all victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

Did you know?

  • One in four women will experience an abusive relationship in her lifetime
  • Domestic violence accounts for 25% of all violent crime in the UK
  • Police in the UK receive a call from the public for assistance for domestic violence on average every minute
  • For 30% of victims, domestic violence starts or escalates in pregnancy
  • In 75% to 90% of incidents of domestic violence children are in the same or the next room.

All forms of domestic abuse – psychological, financial, emotional and physical come from the abuser’s desire for power and control over an intimate partner or other family members. Domestic abuse is repetitive and life-threatening, it tends to worsen over time and it destroys the lives of women and children.

Crime statistics and research show that domestic abuse is gender specific - that is, it is most commonly experienced by women and perpetrated by men, particularly when there is a pattern of repeated and serious physical assaults, or when it includes rape or sexual assault or results in injury or death. However, one in six men will experience domestic abuse in his lifetime and we also provide one to one Outreach Services to male victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse please contact us for advice.

We offer a confidential support service to women, men and children experiencing domestic violence

East Hampshire District Council is working in partnership with Hampshire County Council and the other Hampshire District Councils to offer a discounted scheme for loft and cavity wall insulation to Hampshire residents. The project was  launched last week and offers cavity wall insulation for £75 for at least the first 5,000 householders to sign up to the scheme and will be £99 after that; and loft insulation is available from £99* where you currently have less than 60mm or from £49* if you currently have some but would like to top up your existing loft insulation with rolls of ‘DIY’ insulation.

Does anyone want to volunteer to be Clanfield's "Cycling Champion"? There is to be a parish-to-arish relay cycling event in 2012; preparations are starting now. The following information has been released by EHDC:

eh-2012-logo_2

Cyclists will be asked to put the Pedal to the Medal and help organise an Olympic-style community relay race across the district. The event, to be held in 2012 and coincide with the Olympics in London, will see local cyclists riding from parish to parish as part of a great bike ride across the district. Each parish will organise a cycle ride through their own neighbourhood before passing on the baton – or the golden cycle pump as it will be on the day – to signal to the next parish to begin its ride.

To get the wheels turning on this fun project the event organisers, the CTC and East Hampshire District Council, hope to recruit a number of cycling champions who can attract participants and generate interest in their own parish. Training events will be held to help volunteers lead the rides.

EHDC’s Cycling Development Officer Sarah Walker said: “In 2012 we are aiming for an event where each parish would organise a group cycle ride to another parish. The next parish would cycle to another and so on. Ideally this event would be a circular ride and mirror the passing on of the Olympic torch, or in this case a golden cycle pump, which would be awarded to the parish who had gained the greatest participation. We want to find a cycle champion in each parish who would be trained to lead rides and to engage with local people.”

Training events are being held in East Hampshire on 23 and 24 May and 27 and 28 June 2011.

To find out more about the event, which is funded by the Big Lottery, contact Sarah Walker, East Hampshire Cycling Development Officer, on 07775 595998 or by email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
