Clanfield Gardening Club
Written by Administrator Wednesday, 08 July 2009 20:28
Sunday 14th June, was the most perfectly warm day when Clanfield Gardening Club held their village open gardens day. Our visitors came in a constant stream to relax and stroll around the gardens which were all looking their best in the lovely warm sunshine. Those who were able walked around the village, others drove and some pushed prams and wheelchairs. Cream teas were served on the lawn of Linda Pridham's home. We raised £380 from the Open Gardens and it will all go to local charities: The Clanfield Scouts towards their new hall = £100, The Blendworth Centre = £80, Pat Gross for the NSPCC in Clanfield = £100 and Naomi House - children's hospice = £100 Plants were sold separately in Melvin Brown's house and from this £20 was raised in aid of the British Polio Fellowship. It was a very busy day for all the Gardening club helpers but also very satisfying for everyone involved. We are very proud of the work done by the Clanfield Gardening Club members who were so kind and worked so hard to open their gardens. Well done everyone and thank you.

Our next big day is our Annual Show on the 16th August at 2pm. to be held for the first time in the Petersgate School off Green Lane, PO8 0JU, because our usual venue, the village Memorial Hall is closed for safety regulations. We hold a very successful show and most of the classes are open to members and non-members. Brian Kidd will be presenting the prizes this year. We would like to attract children to enter the junior sections and young people to enter our novice sections. The new schedules will be obtainable from shops around the village in July.
