Butser Ancient Farm – a unique family day out this Christmas
Nestled in a wooded crook of Hampshire downland just over the hill from Petersfield, Butser Ancient Farm is a unique place with handmade buildings representing Iron Age and Roman Britain. This extraordinary backdrop will set the scene to some very unusual alternatives to Christmas activities for children (and their grown ups!) this year:
Saturnalia - Monday 19 December 2011
Find out how the Romans celebrated Christmas before 336AD. Make decorations with natural materials, and children get a present to take home.
Tales of Winter Magic - Tuesday and Wednesday 20 and 21 December 2011
Stories in the roundhouse with Red Phoenix around a blazing fire, festive activities to celebrate the Winter Solstice and a present for the children to take home.
Both events are 1.30 till 3.30pm, pre-booking is advised by calling 02392 598838.
At £10 per child (with accompanying adults/babies free) this really is an afternoon out with a difference. Warm refreshments are also available to buy on the day.
Special Offer!
As a special deal for locals, if you bring this article when visiting you will be given a free guide book (saving £2). This offer is valid until 31 March 2012.
Butser Ancient Farm’s winter opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30 till 4pm.
Next year the farm turns 40, so there will be additional celebratory events throughout 2012.
