Green Lane Development - Further Public Meeting
Written by Administrator Tuesday, 31 August 2010 18:53
At the public meeting held at Petersgate School on the 27th July, Clanfield Parish Council and villagers requested a postponement of any decision on this development pending answers to outstanding questions. We are pleased to advise that as a result of recent representations a further public meeting with EHDC Planners plus representatives from the Highways and Environment agencies, is being arranged for:-
Monday 20th September
at 19:00hrs.
in
Clanfield Memorial Hall
South Lane, Clanfield
This will be an opportunity for villagers and your Parish Council to ask questions relating to issues such as Flooding and Access that Planners were unable to answer at the previous meeting. It is understood that representatives for the developers will also be present.
Villagers will be aware that the Memorial Hall is currently the subject of major repairs and because it is the only hall in the immediate area large enough to hold the numbers expected, the Trustees have agreed to make it available as the venue. This will only be a temporary opening and the hall will still be the subject of substantial on-going repairs, prior to the planned re-opening for the Annual Remembrance Service. Your understanding of the impaired facilities would be appreciated.
Clanfield’s Costcutter Store and the Local Community help Scouts rebuild their Headquarters.

Jacqui and Andrew Shaw of Clanfield’s Costcutter Store, were delighted to present a £1000.00 cheque to Alan Burton for 1st Clanfield Scout group. The money was raised by the customers of Costcutter purchasing featured promotional products over the last year or so. This brings to a total raised for the Scout Hut by the store, to almost £1900.00.

The Community lost a valuable amenity 4 years ago when arsonists burnt down the Scout hut in Little Hyden Lane. The building was used 7 days a week by all the community, so its loss was felt by all. The new building is now nearing completion and will be very environmentally friendly, with Ground Source Heating, Solar panels and rainwater recycling to flush toilets. The new Scout Headquarters will be ready for use in the next few weeks, although funds are still required before the project can be said to be complete.

We have added a section on the website for events in the village. It can be found from the menu under "Clanfield Village" then "Events in the village".
Did you arrange, or attend, an event in the village? Would you like to write a report for ther website? What we need is a short, simple report: ideally with a few photographs. Email us the details and we can add them to the website. Photographs will need to be around 500 pixels wide, but we can resize them if needed.
