Green Deal Communities

Please help us help local residents reduce their fuel bills next winter (and for years to come)!
East Hampshire District Council has just launched an innovative scheme offering cash back to help householders improve their homes and make them more energy efficient. This is a great opportunity for local residents – but the scheme will close at the end of March 2015. That’s why we need your help to reach as many householders as possible in your community and explain what’s in it for them.

What is on offer?
The scheme offers cash back to all homeowners and private landlords, on a first come first served basis, who install energy improvement measures recommended by a Green Deal Assessment (a home energy survey). The cash back is 10% of the cost of the work and an additional Green Deal Cash Reward – depending on the measure.
Please help
  1. 1. We will be organising open homes and other events to raise awareness of the scheme and we would appreciate your help in letting us know any events/networks where we can promote this scheme.
  2. 2. If there are any willing volunteers who have installed insulation, new boilers or other energy-saving measures, and would be interested in sharing their experiences with others through opening their homes we would be glad to hear from them!

What to do next?
If you would like one of us to come and talk to you, your volunteers or your community about the scheme or know of anyone who may wish to open their home please contact Craig Stainton by phone on 01730 234395 or by email at  craig.stainton@easthants.gov.uk.

Householders can get advice and register for EHDC’s scheme through Solent Green Deal by calling 0800 052 2242 or emailinggreendeal@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

Where is the money coming from?
The Green Deal has been set up by the Department of Energy and Climate Change to help householders make energy-saving home improvements. It is based on a Pay As You Save principle. EHDC were awarded extra funds from the Green Deal Communities initiative to help drive Green Deal energy efficiency improvements to local homes.
