TRAFFIC CALMING UPDATE

Hampshire County Council update on the traffic calming measures for South Lane/Chalton Lane/East Meon Road:

Phase 1 will commence on 3rd May.  This work will entail the construction of the build-outs in East Meon Road and Chalton Lane, together with all three gateways.

Contrary to previous information it has been fortunate to secure funding to carry out additional carriageway works as part of the contract.  The Phase 2 works will therefore cover the re-surfacing of large sections of carriageway in South Lane and Chalton Lane.  Following this work the third build-out in South Lane will be completed and all of the speed cushions in South lane, Chalton Lane and East Meon Road will be constructed.

Phase 2 will commence later in the year around August or September.  The delay is required because the necessary road closure cannot be implemented until the Hambledon village drainage works are completed. (Clanfield village is on the approved diversion route).  Whilst it is appreciated that there will be some inconvenience caused, the exact dates for this work will be conveyed in good time.
